Profile
Decoding contested narratives and opaque systems.
Professor Michael Burleigh is an award winning historian and geopolitical analyst with deep expertise in international relations, political risk, and the behaviour of states and institutions under pressure. A former Engelsberg Chair and currently Senior Fellow at LSE IDEAS, he is a prolific author, broadcaster, and global lecturer.
He has advised governments, sovereign entities, businesses and international think tanks on challenges involving governance, reputation and security. Michael's work is valued where historical, ideological and cultural forces shape commercial decisions and public narratives.
Within AMROR, he helps decode political context, contested narratives and opaque systems that may affect settlement, enforcement, reputation or counterparties' behaviour. His perspective is especially relevant where institutional trust is weak and reputational consequences are global.
